Sunday Sewing is a four-week course designed to inspire your creativity and teach you solid basic sewing skills while promoting sustainability.
In this course, participants will learn how to breathe new life into upcycled fabric and clothing, transforming them into unique and stylish creations. For beginner and developing sewers.
In this course you will learn:
<ul>
 <li>The basics of sewing with a machine</li>
 <li>How to handle common sewing challenges and troubleshooting</li>
 <li>Applying creative alterations such as cutting, patching, and adding embellishments</li>
 <li>Understanding the importance of sustainable fashion choices</li>
 <li>Upcycling techniques: deconstructing old garments and salvaging usable fabric</li>
 <li>Exploring ways to continue upcycling and reducing textile waste beyond the course</li>
 <li>Projects could include: Bags Accessories Home decor items: pillows, coasters, or table runners</li>
 <li>Ottomans Applique Work</li>
</ul>
Participants are asked to please bring your own sewing machine if you have one. All other textiles and materials will be provided. If you do not have access to a sewing machine, please email hiral@therecreators.co.nz to organise one for use in the class
Participants will gain valuable sewing skills but also developed a deeper appreciation for sustainable fashion and its positive impact on the environment. Join us for a fun-filled, eco-conscious sewing journey!
