This is an annual ride of women, reclaiming the streets to celebrate the freedom of cycling. We all deserve safe ways to walk and ride bikes.
The Fancy Women Bike Ride was born in 2013 in Izmir (Turkey) to ask the Mayor to celebrate World Car Free Day and to demand that cities create a welcoming space for women to cycle and interact with the city in a whole new way. Now in it's 2nd year in Tāmaki Makaurau we join more than 200 cities worldwide to decorate our bikes with flowers and ride en masse for climate: “Let the cities smell of perfume instead of the smell of exhaust.”
